OPEN EDITION

A series of prints or objects in an art edition that has an unlimited number of copies. The image may be used in various forms e.g. calendars, books, cards etc.

OFFSET LITHOGRAPHY PRINTING

Most of the earlier prints by E R Sturgeon were published using this method This printing technique uses a process in which images are transferred on to a metal surface that has been chemically sensitized so that ink sticks only to the design areas, and is repelled by the non-image areas. Plates are made for laying down the four colours of yellow, red, blue and black with each colour being printed separately. This method is very well adapted to colour printing but fairly large numbers have to be produced in order to be cost effective. A litho print is therefore only generally produced in one size.

GICLEE PRINTING

This is the latest method of printing within the industry - offering an extremely high quality of reproduction with a lot of versatility. It is a computerised reproduction technique in which the image is generated from a digital file and printed by a special ink jet printer. Giclee printing offers the highest degree of accuracy and richness of colour. The ink and paper quality used are both of a very high standard. Giclee prints can quite easily be produced in different sizes and stocked according to demand.

DIGITAL PRINTING

The rise of Digital Print over the last ten years has changed the printing industry. Using an HP Indigo Press it is economically viable to print short runs giving more versatility. It is almost impossible to tell the difference between traditional Litho products. This method of printing is used for our cards, calendars and gift range prints
